Ranthambore

Luxury Safari

Where Tigers, Forts & ForestsnTell Timeless Stories.

Ranthambore National Park in Sawai Madhopur, Rajasthan, spans roughly 1,334 square kilometres across 10 numbered safari zones, home to over 75 tigers. Zones 2, 3, 4, and 5 are traditionally the most reliable for first-time visitors, though 2026 field reports show Zones 6 and 10 increasingly competitive as tiger territories shift. Ranthambore sits roughly 3 hours from Jaipur, making it a natural extension to any Royal India Escape.

Why the Zone Matters More Than the Season

Ranthambore’s 10 zones each cover different territory, ruins, and water sources — and tiger movement between them shifts year to year, sometimes month to month.

A zone that delivered strong sightings last season isn’t guaranteed to this one, which is exactly why we track current field reports rather than booking on reputation alone.

What a Ranthambore Safari Day Actually Looks Like

Two safari windows run daily, roughly 6:30–9:30am and 3–6pm, each lasting three hours in an open-sided jeep or larger canter vehicle.

Beyond tigers, the park’s ruined 10th-century fort rising above Padam Lake gives Ranthambore a visual character none of India’s other reserves share — crumbling chhatris and old hunting pavilions half-swallowed by forest.

Ranthambore is where I send first-time safari travellers who also want a bit of romance to the landscape.

The fort ruins do something the other parks can’t — it doesn’t feel like you’re just watching wildlife, it feels like the wildlife has reclaimed something.

Three nights is a strong starting point for a dedicated Ranthambore experience because it gives you multiple opportunities to enter the park rather than placing the entire experience on one safari.

WHEN IS THE BEST TIME FOR A RANTHAMBORE TIGER SAFARI?

Every Season Tells a Different Story.

Ranthambore’s official tourism information currently lists the park as open from October to June.

October–February

Cooler weather and comfortable safari conditions make this particularly appealing for first-time travellers, families and photographers.

March–May

The landscape becomes progressively drier and hotter. For serious tiger enthusiasts, this period can be particularly compelling because wildlife activity around remaining water sources can become easier to observe.

June

Hot, dramatic and quieter than the peak winter period.

July–September

The main park tourism season closes during the monsoon period, so this is not the period we would automatically recommend for a first-time Ranthambore journey.

Our approach:

We choose the timing according to what you value most—comfort, photography, wildlife activity, fewer crowds or a particular Rajasthan itinerary.
